Vermiculite is a natural, sterile soft mica mineral with great water holding and insulation properties. The high cation exchange capacity means that it will slowly release nutrients back to your plant after they've been absorbed during watering. Recommended for propagation when used as a top layer (reduces evaporation) and to help reduce plant stress in extreme weather conditions (due to insulation properties).
